CAPE CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS

As with most study programmes, the curriculum for each associate degree consists of core, compulsory, elective and adjunct components. 

A minimum of 100 credits in a prescribed cluster of ten CAPE subjects equate to a degree. You may also opt to take additional CAPE units if you so desire. Each unit can be certified separately. A single certificate is provided for each examination sitting.

Students will be required to complete:

1. three (3) general education units

2.four (4) core courses

3 two (2) adjunct/supporting courses

4.one (1) elective

The General Education Component includes Units from Humanities and Fine Arts, Social and Behavioural Science and Natural, Physical Sciences and Technology. These Units foster the development of skills such as research; communication; problem solving and analysis; and, information, self and relationship management. 2. The Major or Specialisation Component provides the requisite breadth and depth for the core focus of associate degree being pursued. 3. The Adjunct/Supporting Component complements or enhances the value of the major or core specialisation. 4. The Elective may or may not be related to the general education requirements, major/core specialisation or adjunct/supporting Units as they may be selected based on personal interest and self-development.
